does anybody else realize that the paternoster gang is literally translated to the we-brothers gang?

It’s been decades since I studied Latin, but surely it’s “Our Father”.

A paternoster is also, apparently, a type of elevator first built in 1884 and popular in continental Europe during the early part of the 20th century. One can be seen in the recovered footage in 1927’s Metropolis.

Because Khan and his associates were launched into space in 1996 and the timeline supposedly diverged with Nero and the Narada’s arrival in 2233.

The history of the universe should remain the same up until the point of divergence in 2233.

Good time travel stories tend to have a logic to them. It’s usually not a case of “anything goes”. “Wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey” only goes so far.

To end up with the significantly different Cumberkhan instead of one similar to Montalkhan (beyond the obvious need for recasting due to age, death or other unsuitablility, we would have to postulate a change to the timeline much earlier than we’ve been told has happened, say in the leadup to Khan’s conception in the nineteen-fifties.

I think Moffat is doing the same thing that RTD did—only worse, because instead of trying to fix it, he’s insisting that he’s correct and continuing to impose his own heavy-handed egocentrism on the show. if anything, it’s gotten worse over the seasons.

Moffat needs to step down. and if he doesn’t, I truly think it’s going to be a severe detriment to the show as a whole.

I think you are confusing Russell T Davies with John Nathan-Turner.

John Nathan-Turner (also known as JNT) was Doctor Who’s longest serving producer, from Season 18 to its cancellation after Season 26 in 1989.

Russell T Davies (aka RTD) was the writer/producer who oversaw the first four series of the current revival. The series was not cancelled under RTD’s watch.

I mean, it only took them eleven movies in which people went flying every which way across the bridge anytime there was a bump.

The seats got lap restraints in Star Trek: The Motion Picture back in 1979, where they were shown to work on Kirk’s command chair in the wormhole sequence. While they were still present on the seats through Star Trek III (and the coda of ST IV with the Enterprise-A), directors Nick Meyer and Leonard Nimoy didn’t bother to use them as intended to keep the crew from falling out of their chairs in their movies.
